Friday: 7am - 4pm
Saturday: 8am - 4pm
Sunday: 8am - 4pm
This 3-day class will help you prepare to pass the written, multiple choice and practical sections of the journeyman and master plumber exams.
We will review the IPC, IRC codes, including a brief overview of the Colorado state adopted code amendments, and will help you apply the requirements of these codes/amendments to the installation of plumbing systems.
- the currently adopted codes, namely, the International Plumbing Code (IPC), the International Residential Code (IRC), including fire sprinkler provisions as well as the Rules and Regulations as adopted by the Examining Board of Plumbers
- a step-by-step demonstration (out of appendix E) of water and water pipe sizing, Drain Waste and Vent.
- how to navigate the code book and test to the code in order to pass the exam

DOE Proposes Efficiency Standards for Consumer Boilers

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has proposed revised energy efficiency standards for consumer heating boilers. The Proposed Rule makes small upgrades to oil fired hot water boilers but major changes to gas fired hot water boilers. DOE suggests eliminating non-condensing hot water boilers from the market. PHCC continues to maintain that the elimination of non-condensing heating products, those that can vent in masonry chimneys or double wall vents, to be a hardship for some installations. PHCC has filed comments to that effect with the Department and further asserts that DOE’s underlying assumptions significantly understate the costs and benefits of the proposed rule. |
EPA Releases Rules on Refrigerant Transition Programs

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has released a final rule related to the transition away from HFC refrigerants. A fact sheet has been release for the final rule which establishes a new Global Potential Warming (GWP) limit of 700 GWP for split system air conditioners and heat pumps. This is a change from how the rule was proposed, there is now no sell through period for split system air conditioners and split system heat pumps. As written, that equipment would be illegal to install after Jan. 1, 2025; the industry had been led to believe there would be more time to eliminate existing inventories of equipment. PHCC has joined with other industry stakeholders to seek clarification of this provision and is requesting relief from this troubling change.
