Journeyman/Master Plumber Exam Prep Course - May 2020

This 3-day class will help you prepare to pass the written, multiple choice and practical sections of the journeyman and master plumber exams.
We will review the IPC, IRC codes, including a brief overview of the Colorado state adopted code amendments, and will help you apply the requirements of these codes/amendments to the installation of plumbing systems.
Topics covered include:
- the currently adopted codes, namely, the International Plumbing Code (IPC), the International Residential Code (IRC), including fire sprinkler provisions as well as the Rules and Regulations as adopted by the Examining Board of Plumbers
- a step-by-step demonstration (out of appendix E) of water and water pipe sizing, Drain Waste and Vent.
- how to navigate the code book and test to the code in order to pass the exam
Once completed, you will be able to answer questions on the following categories covered in the written examination: cross connections; calculations and blueprint reading; combination waste and vent systems; hangers, supports and system protection; indirect and special waste piping; installation techniques; plumbing fixtures; sanitary drainage systems; storm drainage systems; traps, interceptors, separators; vents/venting; water distribution systems; fire sprinklers.
THE CURRENT (2018) IPC IS REQUIRED. The IRC is optional as only sprinkler codes will be reviewed. THE CODE AND COMMENTARY BOOK IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR THIS CLASS.
The 2015 version can be used however many changes happened between the 2015 and 2018 code cycles it is highly recommended a 2018 be brought to class.

DORA Educational Bulletin: Plumbing Contemporaneous Reviews
The state has developed a standard procedure for conducting contemporaneous reviews to ensure consistent, timely and efficient enforcement of Colorado’s plumbing licensure and apprenticeship requirements. This procedure is pursuant to HB19-1086, which becomes effective Jan. 1, 2020.
Inspecting entities are required to develop standard procedures advising its inspectors how to conduct these reviews of plumbers and apprentices that are compliant with state plumbing licensing and apprentice ratio laws.

Streamlined Plumbing Exam Process
Beginning January 1, 2019, applicants wishing to take the Colorado Plumbing Examination should contact the exam vendor, PSI, directly. The Division of Professions and Occupations (Division) is no longer requiring applicants to be pre-approved for the exam. Applicants may register for the exam on the PSI website on or after January 1, 2019. PSI will permit an applicant to take the Colorado Plumbing Exam after confirming the following: Applicant has completed the required PSI registration process.
Applicant pays the exam registration fee to PSI.
Applicants seeking a Colorado plumbing license must pass the Colorado Plumbing Exam before applying for licensure at the Division. After passing the examination, applicants must complete the application for licensure for the Division of Professions and Occupations and demonstrate that minimum qualifications for licensure set by Colorado law are met. The application for licensure can be found on the State Plumbing Board’s website.
The Division of Professions and Occupations (Division) at the Department of Regulatory Agencies will no longer require applicants to be pre-approved for the Colorado Plumbing Exam.
